Training Camp at Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club – 18^th & 19^th of August 2018

From North to South London, I next visited again Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club, where my friend and former teammate from Física de Torres Vedras, Rita Lopes, is playing and Coaching, for a two days Training Camp during the weekend.

My first time at Cleeve Park TTC was last April and it’s nice to see that the Club keeps growing and developing, both in memberships and improving players skills and game levels.

Gaped

The day I arrived at the Club, a Friday evening, I watched their Adult Group Session. Besides having “knocked up” with 83 years old Lady Julie Pilfold, I saw 14 TT tables full of players from all kind of game levels. I was gaped! It’s becoming a habit this kind of TT sessions for adults. Unfortunately in Portugal, it is still very little developed and the community very little conscious of the benefits of Table Tennis for ALL and the importance of doing physical activity in the day to day of each.

Great Camp

During the Camp that I led, together with the Coaches of the Club, Chris Bartram, Rita, Phil and Steve, we had 20 players on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. Again full focus and commitment by everyone in all the areas we worked on, such as footwork exercises off and on the table, multiballs sessions, service-receive tips and practice, different kinds of competition and also some funny exercises included, where we achieved the challenge of the moment in UK and we called it the “Table Tennis Chain”.

Very pleased with this Camp, continuing, above all, my learning process doing what I like best!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH Rita lopes, who, after a long period away from our sport, is back still more willing and dedicated than before (which is not easy for those who know her!) and to the Coaching Team and Staff of Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club.

Estágio no Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club – 18 & 19 de Agosto 2018

Do norte para o Sul de Londres, segui para nova visita ao Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club, clube da minha amiga e colega de equipa da Física de Torres Vedras, Rita Lopes, para orientar um estágio durante o fim-de-semana.

Também visitei este clube no passado mês de Abril e é bom ver que o clube continua o seu desenvolvimento e crescimento, quer de membros do Clube, quer no nível de jogo dos seus atletas.

Boquiaberto/Espantado

No dia em que cheguei ao Clube, numa sexta-feira ao final de tarde, assiti ao treino do grupo de adultos. Para além de ter “batido umas bolas” com a Dona Julie Pilfold de 83 anos, vi 14 mesas completas, com adultos de todos os níveis a jogarem Ténis de Mesa. Fiquei boquiaberto! Está cada vez mais a tornar-se um hábito este tipo de treinos para adultos. Infelizmente em Portugal, ainda está muito pouco desenvolvido e a comunidade muito pouco consciente dos benefícios do Ténis de Mesa para TODOS e da importância de realizar atividade física de uma forma geral no dia-a-dia de cada um.

Ótimo Estágio

Relativamente ao estágio que orientei, com a colaboração dos Treinadores Chris Bartram, Rita, Phil e Steve, tivemos no sábado 20 atletas e no domingo 18 atletas. Houve muito empenho e dedicação por parte de todos, em todas as áreas em que trabalhámos, desde exercícios de movimentação “fora da mesa” e depois na mesa, treino de multibolas, serviço e recepção, vários tipos de competição a até um pouco de diversão, onde conseguimos ultrapassar o desafio do momento no Reino Unido, que lhe chamámos “Table Tennis Chain” (“Ténis de Mesa em Cadeia”).

Muito contente com a realização deste estágio, continuando, acima de tudo, o meu processo de aprendizagem fazendo aquilo que mais gosto!

Muito obrigado à Rita Lopes que está de volta à nossa modalidade, ainda com mais vontade e dedicação que antigamente (o que não é fácil para quem a conhece!) e a toda a estrutura do Cleeve Park Table Tennis Club.
